On Wednesdays at 8pm First Grace UCC is home to one of the origional AA meetings in Akron, Ohio--birthplace for the Alcoholics Anonymous movement. The Market Path

The Market Path is a fair trade mission and ministry of First Grace United Church of Christ in Akron, Ohio. Eager to be a unique, welcoming presence in the Highland Square community, The Market Path has provided a place to promote social justice, honesty and integrity in the local retail market.

 

The Akron AIDS Collaborative

An HIV/AIDS community-based program in Akron serving predominately African Americans and other minorities.  The AAC helps individuals increase their knowledge and skills, discuss beliefs and facilitate attitude changes peers and friends in an atmosphere of safety, acceptance and social support. 

 

Passionate about Food Ministries at First Grace!

 

First Grace United Church of Christ hates the idea of hunger.  Especially when we know that in many homes across West Akron, individuals, children, and their famlies go to bed hungry every night.   As a mission of the church, we offer several ministries that help to fight against issues of hunger. Working closely with the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank, we are changing lives and filling bellies.  But just how are we doing that you ask?  Read on.

For over two decades First Grace has run two monthly Free Saturday Lunch programs.  This historic free lunch program has been providing free hot meals, packed lunches, and other sustainable items on the last two Saturdays of each month from Noon-1pm.   Hundreds of people a month not only rely on and benefit from this program, but true friendships are made during... click here to read more

Breakfast is the start of any important day and First Grace is promoting the importance of breakfast, especially on Sundays with our Free Sunday Breakfast.  Offered each Sunday morning at 10am, just before we start Worship at 10:45am, we offer a mulitude of delicious and healthy breakfast items including juices, milk, coffee, teas, bagels, cerals, yougurt, muffins, donuts, and occasional hot items!

Offering six meals a month helps, but we also wanted to offer assistance at home.  Monday nights from 6:30-7:30pm and Tuesday mornings from 11:30am-1:00pm we open our People's Choice Pantry to the community.   Offering more than just your regular pantry items... click here to read more

Helping to end hunger in the community is no easy feat!  Every month we rely on the efforts of our staff and our amazing, dedicated volunteers to help.  Some volunteers assist weekly, some assist monthly, some just when then can!  What can you provide?  Interested in helping end hunger in West Akron?  Then click here to learn more!

  

Wellness360°

An AmeriCorps program centered in Akron & Summit County, Wellness360° provides volunteer and service support to area agencies focusd on poverty relief.  Supported by First Grace UCC and several other agency & church partnerships, Wellness360° will launch in the Fall of 2010.


Runners Feeding Others

Runners Feeding Others is an organization where active individuals have chosen to dedicate their running in area races to the mission of feeding the hungry.  This is accomplished through sponsorships made to the hunger programs of First Grace.
